This is the first version of the Transition Planning Real Estate Sector Guidance, developed using the Transition Planning Taskforce (TPT) Disclosure Framework as its foundation. It provides practical sector-specific guidance that can be used now to support the implementation of effective and credible transition plans within the real estate sector.
This is an initial version, we recognise that further refinement will be needed. This version forms part of a round of consultation that will take place in the first half of 2026, and we welcome feedback from all participants across the real estate ecosystem to inform the next iteration of the guidance. It includes but is not limited to investors, investment managers, lenders, advisers, architects, lawyers, and other stakeholders engaged in the sector.
Your feedback will help ensure that this guidance remains both practical and robust, supporting real estate organisations as they plan and deliver their transition plans. For more information or to submit feedback, please contact us on hello@brae.earth.
The development of this guidance was supported the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC), Green Finance Institute (GFI), the Global Real Estate Engagement Network (GREEN) and BRAE. It was authored by Stephanie McMahon, Director of SMCI. Additional development input was provided by the Institute for Human Rights in Business (IHRB) and ShareAction.
